Home of Step 5 - Lead

Spiritual growth and strength in the ability to show great compassion doesn't happen automatically. The prerequisite NewLife course identified step 1, and here we identify what happens at step 2. This page has all the links for the sessions in the course.

Overview of Step 5 - Lead:

The Lead step is similar to parenting. It is the stage when the student becomes the teacher. Nobody ever becomes perfect in love, however, the pattern of Great love and the Great Commission indicates that students of Jesus are all to go and make disciples. It is important for leaders to remain connected to leaders. Nobody becomes Jesus, because everyone needs accountability. The best teachers are eternally students.

The Lead Step seeks to answer these questions:

  • Who can the the student lead?
  • What does the new leader need in order to become most productive?
  • How can humilty and service assist the new leader?
  • How can the "letting go" and the "sending" of the new leader help both teacher and student?
  • How is grandparenting different from parenting, and how does this compare or difer from what is going on at this Lead Step?
  • What does the new leader need in the process of growth in Great love?

Take notice that leadership teachability or interest in learning can decrease in time. For instance, parents are most interested in learning how to be a parent when they are new parents. By the time the parents are dealing with teens, they have already settled into habbits, and are less interested in learning how to parent. Therefor, teach leadership early. There are mountains of teachers about leadership.
