Overview of Step 3 - Walk:
This stage is more outward and focused on others people.
The Walk Step seeks to answer these questions:
- What happens in the relationship when the student is released into service?
- What are some ways that the student might have interest in showing love to the hurts of the world? Which passions and causes are the best fit for the student?
- What are local opportunities to dabble (test out) volunteering?
- What are the most pressing needs of the world, and how do these needs complicate passions and interests of the student? What are causes and ways that people show love to others?
- What is right and wrong morally?
- What does the student want to do independently from the teacher that will encourage growth in love, and inspire strength in compassion.
- What cultures and countries in the world are most shocking, and what can be learned from these cultures?
- What sacred cows in the culture of the student that have drawbacks, and are limiting, unkind, or unwise from an outsiders point of view (assuming the outsiders are those in other cultures, other socio-economic settings, and future generations)?
- How is the student doing in areas of self-care, and self-nourishment? (self being all 5 parts of the self)
- original acts and expressions of love
- What patterns of hurt and what major issues are effecting life and growth?
- What are the patterns of failurea and struggle and how can love and grace be applied?
- How is love integrating into areas of major commitment (marriage, career, family, hobbies, etc.)?
- What is needed for balance in life (keeping family, career, faith, health, relationships)?
- Is the student asking themself daily the following question: “What is my next step to get closer to God and to others?”
- What happens in the parent-child relationship during the teenage years?
